Nelson

We crossed the Cook Strait by ferry and traveled along the Northern coast of the South Island to Nelson- a warm, artsy town that reminded us a lot of Santa Barbara. We chose Nelson to visit for a couple of reasons- first being that it is known for being the sunniest city in NZ and second for its proximity to Abel Tasman National Park. So of course, it rained the whole week. But, the storm would come and go and when sunny spells hit we would race to the beach for some fun. We also visited lots of play grounds and a water park, a few great restaurants, went to see "Frozen," and played lots of board games. We stayed up late and slept in every day. We relaxed. It was really nice.
